PayCLT Innovation Talk: Real-Time Payments Need Real-Time Intelligence: Where AI Actually Fits
The rails are live. FedNow launched. RTP volumes are climbing. But adoption? Still lagging. The problem isn't speed. It's everything that has to happen at speed. Fraud screening in milliseconds. Routing decisions across multiple rails. Compliance checks that can't add latency. The infrastructure behind real-time payments was built for batch processing, and bolting AI onto legacy decisioning isn't closing the gap. This panel cuts through the AI hype to focus on where machine learning and intelligent automation are actually solving real problems in payments and where they're still falling short. What You'll Learn: - Why real-time rails without real-time intelligence create more risk, not less and what that looks like operationally - Where AI is delivering measurable results today: fraud decisioning, payment routing, and exception handling - What's blocking adoption at mid-size and regional FIs, and how the build-vs-buy calculus is shifting - The gap between "AI-enabled" marketing and production-grade intelligence in payments infrastructure Presented by PayCLT: Charlotte's payments and fintech community.
